Never before has it been so important for the Wellington region to work as a team.

As we head into possibly decades of tumultuous global change and observe the challenges to us created by the newly-transformed Auckland region, we need to make sure we are better connected so we can make the most of our combined resources.

Our whole needs to be greater than the sum of our parts.

Nearly half a million of us call our region home – each living in a local community that gives us many of our personal reference points. But we already have a highly integrated regional economy and social networks and now it’s time to build on our many strengths, to become more open to collective opportunity.

Our region needs to be relevant, resilient and collaborative.

This will require change to local government in the region. We believe we should shape our own future rather than have others do it for us.
